New job!

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

So, no new maps to release yet. I know, you're starting to think I am a liar. I promise, I always finish something that I start, it just might take a while.

The reason that I am posting this is to let everyone know that I have a wonderful new job as a level designer at Infinity Ward. Treyarch treated me well for the last 3 years but it was time for a change. However, Treyarch should be announcing their next game soon (the one I worked on for the last year) so when they do I will be sure to post links to whatever videos or screenshots that are released to the media. Stay tuned!

Shambler's Castle Review at ModDB

Sunday, January 06, 2008

Blast from the past here - almost a year after Shambler's Castle is released there is a new review! It's very well written and has great things to say about the mod so check it out over at ModDB.

Just got back from a week at GDC, which was a lot of fun. It spurred some interest to come home and mod for a bit, so hopefully some other news from me will be here soon!

Something new

Sunday, January 06, 2008

Been a while, huh? I haven't really had anything to write about plus life has been pretty busy. Ah, that old excuse. Couldn't I come up with something better than that? Like, my computer got attacked by bees.

The Quake mod, Quake: Nails of Chthon is undergoing some changes. People got real busy and some things just aren't going to get done. We'll still release what we have once we polish it up so keep an eye out for that.

Besides that, in my spare time I have been working on a map for one of my favorite games of 2007, Team Fortress 2. Here are some work in progress shots of Townville.

I'm ready for dream time Mr. B.

Saturday, August 25, 2007

I can't get the dialogue from the Little Sisters in Bioshock out of my head! Help me!

The Quake: Nails of Chthon team has launched a site (using this site as a template) where all Quake mod news will be posted. Of course, you can check here too most of the time as well, but the other site will have a lot more news, images and all that sort of stuff. It can be found here:

Quake: Nails of Chthon

Also, my good friend, former co-worker and roommate and fellow modder, Quaker-X has just launched his new website! He ditched the Rocket Depot in favor of a much more professional looking site along with a brand new showpiece level to boot! It looks sexy, so go check it out.

More w.i.p. shots

Sunday, June 03, 2007

Sup. There are more shots of my second map for the Quake mod entitled Lavastorm up in the w.i.p. section. Check 'em out.

Also, I was wrong about the LMS post below. Executive Quarters will be in the 4.0 update with is not out yet. MY BAD.

Executive Quarters?

Friday, May 18, 2007

Last Man Standing is one of the best mods for Doom 3. It adds co-op to the game as well as restructures many community Doom 3 maps to work (and hopefully work well) with their co-op system. I remember "The_Master" emailing me a long time ago to ask if he could do what was needed with Executive Quarters, a map I released about a year or more ago, to make it play well with co-op and release it along side many others in the next LMS update. Well, that time as come! If you never had a chance to play Executive Quarters, grab a friend and now play it with co-op!

LMS Download Page

Of course, I haven't tried it yet... so if he butchered it beyond playable then don't blame me! ;) However, I doubt that is the case.

New things!

Tuesday, April 24, 2007

Hey. First off, you'll notice that my URL has changed to www.monster-clip.com. Witty, huh? My hosting at The Underground came to an end after many years and my new home is at Mile High Gaming.com ( http://mhgaming.com/ ) Please update your bookmarks since the forward at The Underground won't be there forever. Let me know if you find any broken links. I'm trying to make sure everything is fixed but there are a ton of links to check.

Anyway, I have some new stuff to show and post in my w.i.p.of Lavastorm, another map for the Quake mod. I have one good screenshot for now. More to come... when? Later.

Shambler's Castle is here!

Sunday, March 25, 2007

After 2 years of working on this project, between shipping 2 games and trying to have a life outside of making games (yeah, right), we bring you Shambler's Castle!

This is a full mod using the Doom 3 engine to recreate one of our favorite games of all time, Quake. There's new weapons, monsters, pickups, powerups and more! - all crammed into one map. I wish I could have done more... who knows, maybe I will.

Here's the link to the page and here's a link to the forum discussing it on Doom3World. Check out the screenshots. Download and play the mod. Feel free to chime in and tell us what you think.

Long Time...

Sunday, February 25, 2007

So it's been a very long time, almost a year, since I've updated this website. I once said that I would keep this space exclusively for personal projects... and guess what, I have!

Call of Duty 3 has been released and is doing well. Check it out if you get the chance!

I've done a little work to my portfolio and w.i.p. sections. There's more to show as well as higher resolution shots linked from the smaller images. Be sure to check the w.i.p. section for new Shambler's Castle shots.

Call of Duty 3 and Quake 3 Arena?

Thursday, July 6, 2006

1up.com has lots of exclusive videos and screenshots of Call of Duty 3. Check 'em out.

A long time comin', but all my Quake 3 maps have been uploaded and linked. Some of them are pretty old, but they're there in case anyone's still loading up Quake 3 for LAN parties or just to have a little fun. You can follow the portfolio link or just go straight there.

Call of Duty 3

Tuesday, May 16, 2006
So E3 has come and gone this year and it was a good one. There are a lot of good games coming out this year (and early next year) to be excited about. I didn't get any pictures this time around, but if you care to read my opinions on the games I saw/played, feel free to read them at the Underground Forum's Games section.

Call of Duty 3 was announced immediately before E3 and Treyarch was pinned as the developer. Hogwash! I have never played a Call of Duty game in my life. Errr... but you can catch the E3 exclusive from EGM in the July issue. Keep your eyes peeled. It's good stuff.

Quaker-X and I played in a Prey tournament at E3. It's the next Quake game (multiplayer wise), so you can expect something from us. Maybe in the form of Zogg Pak 2? We'll see.

Interview?

Wednesday, April 12, 2006
A little over a month and nothing really worth posting here. I did an interview with Leveldesign.nl over the Doom 3 mod/map I'm working on, Quake Shambler's Castle. The page for the map is here and the interview is here. Check back in about a month for E3 news!

Some shots of my w.i.p. :: Shambler's Castle

Friday, March 10, 2006
I posted a few small screenshots (I don't want to give away too much) of my work in progress, Shambler's Castle. Check it out here. Right now it's being developed as an expansion pack to the Quake Remix mod. Quaker-X has supplied them with all of the Quake weapons, pickups and physics code and I will supply them with a map or two (ha ha). The version with the mod will use all the Quake Remix monsters as well as Quaker-X's code and weapon work... and don't forget the remade Axe, Grenade Launcher and Double Barrel Shotgun that Obi-Wan contributed. Obi-Wan's Shambler and Fiend monsters will be included, either by default or as an optional download. Yes, they're that good.

My best guess at a release date is November 2006.

A few more mirrors and game servers for Zogg

Thursday, February 16, 2006
Zogg Pak is going over well - everyone seems to like it. It's been added to two more public servers (that I've seen), so I added those to the server list on the map page. Also, the good people at PlanetQuake4.net have provided us with a few more mirrors... and they don't require registration! Hallelujah! Links and game server IPs are here

Zogg Pak is here!

Sunday, February 12, 2006
A day early! Quaker-X and I were both tired of looking at them. Get them out the door! We've been working on them too long! 2 Quake 4 maps, one by Quaker-X and one by myself. Each made for 2 to 8 players in vanilla deathmatch. My good friend and site host, James, is running Zogg pak exclusively on his Quake 4 server. Just load up Quake 4 and type in: "connect ug.dyndns.org" and own! If anyone out there adds the pak to your Quake 4 server, make sure to let me know.

Zogg Pak is on its way!

Wednesday, February 1, 2006
So I never actually uploaded the last post to my website which also happened to be the first of the new look. I wanted to wait until I had more done.

My next community project will be released real soon. February 14th is the release date... tentatively. Quaker-X and I have each completed one 4 player deathmatch map a piece for Quake 4. We planned on doing 2 a piece but we just didn't have the time if we wanted to get this out anytime this century. We each have many more community projects we want to get to and work certainly isn't slowing down.

Since it's so near release I'm not adding it to the w.i.p. section. I will, however, show you some delicious screens of zoggdm1.

It's new and old at the same time...

Thursday, January 26, 2006
I never liked the remade site which is why it was hardly ever updated. I'm going back to something more familiar for now.
I've got some personal projects getting closer and closer to completion in both Doom 3 and Quake 4. Though, at the rate I've been producing things in the community lately, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Also, let me just get this out there. This page is pretty much a straight rip-off of Kung Fu Squirrel's home page, button-masher.net, without all the spiffy things like comments and news archives. What can I say? I fell in love with the color scheme. If there's one thing I've learned in the game industry it's this: if you find something that someone has done better than you, take it and use it. Also, imitation is the biggest form of flattery... right?
